Alison Wainwright Davitt, MBA

Assistant Dean of Advancement

Alison Wainwright Davitt of Baltimore, Maryland joined the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine at Virginia Tech as assistant dean of advancement in 2016. She provides oversight of the college’s development, communications, and alumni relations efforts. 

Prior to joining the veterinary college, Davitt was vice president for principal gifts for the Association of Zoos and Aquariums in Silver Spring, Maryland. In that role, she cultivated major and principal donors for the association’s newly established Saving Animals From Extinction (SAFE) campaign, which aims to protect four animal species from extinction and build capacity to address threats to 100 species by 2019.

Davitt was previously the associate vice president for development and constituent relations at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore. She has experience at the University of Maryland, where she was director of major gifts at the School of Pharmacy and director for development for special gifts and programs. Davitt also served as director of annual gifts and special events at the Greater Baltimore Medical Center.

She is a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education.

Davitt earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Notre Dame of Maryland University and an M.B.A. from Johns Hopkins University.
