Meet Gustavo Zanotto, Clinical Assistant Professor of Sports Medicine and Lameness 
Originally from Curitiba, Brazil, Zanotto brings a truly international perspective to equine sports medicine after building his distinguished career focused on athletic performance, lameness, and rehabilitation. His background, combined with his passion for the performance horse, makes him uniquely equipped to help your horse reach - and maintain - peak condition.

Meet Emily Schaefer, Clinical Assistant Professor of Equine Emergency and Critical Care
A lifelong equestrian, Schaefer is passionate about emergency and critical care, becoming board-certified in Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 2023, and is now one of two specialists dedicated to emergency and critical care at the Equine Medical Center.

  • New developments in available treatment options for skin cancer in the horse
    • Did you know that horses are susceptible to several types of skin cancer? Meet Elsa Ludwig, Clinical Assistant Professor of Equine Surgery, who has extensive experience in treating cutaneous tumors. Learn about H-FIRE, a form of electroporation used in combination with local chemotherapy to treat tumors that may not have responded to previous treatment.
  • Colic and neonatal intensive care
  • Hospital bandaging techniques
