Abandoned on a property in southeastern Maryland, a pregnant mare and emaciated colt adopted by Amiya Veatch are now thriving, along with the mare's yearling, at the Veatch farm in Fort Washington, Maryland. Veatch, a member of the EMC's advisory council, brought the mare to the equine center for specialized foaling care.
