Visitation Policy

Owners, trainers, and managers are welcome to visit their horse(s) in the hospital. To ensure that patient care, client service, and security are optimal for all, individuals visiting patients are asked to abide by the following visitation policy.

Visiting hours

Visiting hours are by appointment only from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 5 p.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday:

Please note that staff do not have the authority to provide patient updates or answer any questions about the condition of your horse without prior approval from the attending clinician. All questions regarding care and treatment may be directed to the veterinary team treating your horse.
Please be aware that because of other hospital obligations, clinicians may not be available during your visit to address questions. You can schedule a time to speak with the clinician with the admissions staff.

Before each visit, please check in at the front desk to obtain a visitor's badge and sign the visitation log. Visitation is limited to 30 minutes.

Please inform your clinician and/or admissions staff if you would like to permit others to visit your horse.

Privacy

We ask, out of respect for the privacy and biosecurity of all patients in the hospital, that you limit your visit to your horse.

Dogs and children

Please do not bring your dog into the hospital building. Dogs should be kept in your vehicle and may be walked in the field north of the hospital.

For safety reasons, all children must remain under direct adult supervision at all times.

Patient inquiries

All questions and concerns regarding the care, treatment, and status of your horse should be directed to the attending clinician or resident. Veterinary technicians and assistants do not have the authority to discuss your horse's condition with you. Please ask them to contact your clinician.

Walking your horse

If you have permission to walk your horse, stay in the grassy areas well away from vehicles. Please do not walk your horse on or beside the roadways or in the parking area.

Isolation facility

Visitors must be escorted to visit a horse in the Isolation Building. They may not enter the building or the stall and visitation is limited to viewing their horse through the outside glass door. Visitors should check out at the admissions office after their visitation and return their visitor's pass.
